What a decade!

I know everyone is saying this today, but it's hard to believe 2010 begins tomorrow!  I actually remember exactly where I was 10 years ago tonight.  I was a senior in high school, and everyone was completely freaked out about Y2K - which now seems incredibly silly.  Our church youth group was attending an event called YouthLink2000 at the Astrodome.  We all figured ringing in the new year and millenium by worshipping and praising God was a great thing to be doing if anything crazy was going to happen.

I think knowing exactly what I was doing 10 years ago makes looking back on these last 10 years even more incredible.  What a decade it has been!  Here's a look back (more for my benefit than anyone else's, but fun no less).

  1. Graduated from high school in May 2000
  2. Moved to Waco to attend Baylor in August 2000
  3. Met some of my closest girl friends from college when I joined a sorority in January 2002
  4. Graduated from Baylor with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in May 2004
  5. Met the love of my life and started dating a month after graduation in June 2004
  6. Stayed in Waco and started at Truett Seminary in August 2004
  7. Got engaged to the love of my life and had a 14 month engagement in April 2006
  8. Bought a house in March 2007
  9. Started my first job that wouldn't just be a college job in April 2007
  10. Graduated from Truett with a Master of Divinity in Christian Education in May 2007
  11. Got married a month later and went to the Bahamas for an amazing honeymoon in June 2007
  12. Found our sweet dog in June 2008
  13. Husband and I both changed jobs in March 2009
  14. Became a licensed minister in July 2009

Wow!  What a decade!  Of course those are the highlights, and the last decade has also included heartache and loss, but one things has been sure and true through all of it.  God is in complete control and His plan for me is so much better than anything I could plan or imagine for myself.

I can't wait to see what the next decade holds for our family!

"The LORD your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing."
Zephaniah 3:17
